As the State of Qatar gets ready to host the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 (“Tournament”), the first in the Middle East, the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MOEHE) recently announced the annual academic calendar for schools for the 2022/2023 year. The calendar takes into account the Tournament period, with the academic mid-year break scheduled to start from 20 November until 22 December. This will allow students to attend and enjoy the Tournament, and also reduce traffic congestion which is expected to occur during that period given the anticipated volume of visitors visiting the country.
The Tournament will be held from 21 November to 18 December 2022, with the final match to be held on 18 December corresponding to Qatar’s national day.
