As part of our regular publications, we will be providing you with feedback on matters pertinent to the Qatar Courts, including information on judgments that have been issued and matters of procedural importance.  In this issue we share below developments relevant to each of named Courts.

Court of First Instance:

Two civil court circuits have been established at the Court of First Instance to hear old disputes that were filed before or in 2019.   Further, a new court circuit has been established to hear the appeals of decisions issued by the Rental Disputes Resolution Committee (for cases value not more than QAR 500,000). The hearings of such circuit will be held at the premises of the Rental Disputes Resolution Committee located in the Engineering Street.

Court of Appeal:

The first Labour Court Circuit shall transfer all pending appeals to be heard by the administrative circuits together with the administrative appeal, and then such Labour Circuit will be cancelled. Accordingly, labour appeals will be heard by one Labour Circuit and two Administrative Circuits at the Court of Appeal.

All old appeals filed before or in 2018 shall be transferred to, and heard by one circuit, allocated for this purpose. A court circuit has been allocated for hearing disputes, to which governmental entities are a party.

Execution Court:

The Execution Court has been moved from Dafna to Lusail area in a separate premises.  Enforcement claims shall be filed through Court’s online system, except for those matters that are based on decisions issued by the Court of Appeal, which will be filed manually at the Execution Court.
