Al-Ansari & Associates, fastest growing law firm in Qatar, proudly hosted “Qatar Tendering Law Seminar: Tendering between Laws and Practice”
The half day seminar was organised with the support of Corporate Counsel Middle East and took place at the Hilton Hotel, Doha last Thursday.
Salman Al-Ansari, on behalf of Mohammed Al-Ansari, Managing Partner with Al-Ansari & Associates, and Ziad Zarka, General Counsel with Qatar Chemical and Petrochemical Marketing and Distribution Company (Muntajat) and Board Member with Corporate Counsel Middle East and Qatar Representative, welcomed over 70 attendees from the legal and procurement profession in Qatar.
Starting the seminar Dr. Mosleh At’tarawana, General Counsel at Astad Project Management, and Salman Al-Ansari, Partner at Al-Ansari & Associates, covered the Qatar tender law, its recent updates and practical case studies.
The second session provided information on how the oil and gas industry is organized with respect to procurement and tendering. The speakers of this session were Dr. Marwan Musleh, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary of the RasGas group of companies, and Mohammed Al-Mannai, Senior Counsel at Qatar Petroleum.
The last session discussed tendering legal services and the issues around it. Ziad Zarka, the General Counsel of Qatar Chemical and Petrochemical Marketing and Distribution Company (Muntajat) and Board of Member of Corporate Counsel Middle East, and Susan Bastress, Managing Partner at Patton Boggs Doha, were the experts of this session and provided valuable insight into the advantages and disadvantages to tendering for legal services from both corporate and law firm perspectives and practical considerations on how best to select law firms in providing services to companies
