Qatar Lawyers Association Elections
Two Members of Al-Ansari Law Firm have been elected to Qatar Lawyers Association Board on Wednesday 05/05/2010
The General Assembly of Qatar Lawyers Association’s elects Mohammed Al-Ansari, Founder and Managing Partner of Al-Ansari Law Firm, and Dr. Hassan Al-Sayed as members to the new board for three-year term. In a competitive election, Mohammed Al-Ansari finished the race first with the heights votes whereas Dr. Hassan Al-Sayed was elected as the Vice Chairman of the Association.
“I am honored and thrilled with this victory yet lawyers trust and confident is a responsibility that requires hard work to maintain. The legal profession in Qatar is encountering immense challenges and I believe that Qatar legal community’s cooperation is going to enhance the profession” said Mohammed A. Al-Ansari.
Dr. Hassan Al-Sayed said “I would like to thank the previous board for their effort to lay the foundation over which all subsequent boards will build their efforts. Such democratic atmosphere under which the new board was elected demonstrates the maturity of the legal profession in Qatar. It is a hard job but we will work hard to meet the expectations throughout our term.”
Biography of Mohammed Al-Ansari
Mohammed Al-Ansari is the founder and managing partner at Al-Ansari Law Firm. Mr. Al-Ansari significant experience in civil and commercial complex litigation matters, along with his knowledge of local laws, allows him to represents clients in various disputes before Qatar Courts and before Arbitration Tribunals. Mr. Al-Ansari has counseled and negotiated, on behalf local and multinational clients’ major transactions and projects.
Before joining the firm, Mr. Al-Ansari worked at the Ministry of Justice for thirteen years, part of which was spent as a Litigator at Litigation Department, representing the governmental agencies and authorities in various complex litigation matters. In addition, Mr. Al-Ansari spent part of his time at the Ministry of Justice Contracts and Legal Opinions Department, drafting and reviewing State contracts and rendering legal opinions in various matters.
Biography of Dr. Hassan A. Al-Sayed
Dr. Hassan A. Al-Sayed is the former Dean of Law and the founding Dean of Qatar University College of Law. He undertook a great responsibility in separating the College of Law from the College of Sahria (Islamic Studies), develop a new independent curriculum, and incorporate English language at the College. Dean Hassan worked as an associate dean and acting dean of law, for 3 years, during the establishment of the College of Law after which he was appointed as Dean of Law in 2007.
Dean Hassan is an experienced practitioner in constitutional matter, administrative disputes and state contracts. He was appointed in many important committees including the International Center for Dialogue between religions and Bar Admission Committee. Dr. Al-Sayed received his LL.B. from University of Kuwait in 1993 after which he pursued his LL.M. at University of Jordan 1997 and in 2003 was granted Ph.D. from East Anglia, Norwich, United Kingdom.
